The General Data Protection Regulation's (GDPR) Impact on Cloud Usage
The European Union (EU) Parliament's Civil Liberties Committee recently approved Europe's General Data Protection Regulation (the GDPR) that will go into effect in 2018, superseding the 20-year-old Data Protection Directive (the Directive). The GDPR is meant to be a unifying set of data regulations that will solve the confusion and inefficiency created by the various conflicting data protection laws that currently exist across Europe. Enterprises using cloud services will need to ensure that they are ready to comply with all aspects of the GDPR's regulations around data within the next two years.
